If he was forthcoming in his review, it would have been to obvious that it’s a breach of the ToS. Workers are not permitted to review apps made by their own company.
This is 100% a shady review.
I think by the time we reach some future extreme of data density, it will be in a method of storage beyond our current understanding. It will be measured in coordinates or atoms or fractions of a dimension that we nullify.
They are providing extra service. Using Plex on mobile is now free for everyone, which is a huge step forward. It’s not a bad trade off for server owners to require Plex pass for remote viewing (which is only necessary if you’re not using a VPN like tailscale for free remote viewing).
I don’t get why people are freaking out over a one off fee to unlock something that has running costs for Plex, which itself isn’t necessary if you just opt for a free VPN client like tailscale.
OP couldn’t comprehend an email, and when everyone tried to reassure them that nothing for them has changed they doubled down. The closest thing to justification I can figure is “all my clients are borderline illiterate as well and it upset them”.
How in the world could you be upset that a product you already paid for is not providing that specific feature for free anymore. They’ve even made the phone software free!
How many people with a folder full of media also know how to safety expose a home server to the internet? It would be less than 1%.
Meanwhile, you don’t need network engineer levels of knowledge to run Plex for remote access. You download the software, choose the folder, and send your friends a share link.
Windows started life as a window manager that you installed on top of MS-DOS. It has since grown to be much more, and I don’t think you can criticise it for that.
Also, changing the visual theme is their prerogative. They are not required to supply a “classic” theme, even though they did do that a bunch of times.
I get Lemmy is the bird around here, but if you’re going to bad mouth Windows, at least do it for the many legitimate problems it has.
Windows 8 was when MS were trying to break into the phone OS market to complete with Android and iOS. They wanted to have the “same OS” across phone, tablet, and desktop, which isn’t a terrible idea except for the fact you need to betray your entire desktop customer base to get there.
My favourite part of Linux cli is you only know you’ve done something when you get no feedback at all.
Theoretically, yes, but I suspect the manufacturing quality of SD cards is a lot lower than SSDs
They really should have used the word “static” instead of stable. Stable definitely has connotations of functional stability, and unstable of functional instability.
I guess it means that no one here knows what Windows Debloated is and didn’t read far down enough to see regular windows marked as very easy to install.
I think they are talking HDD vs SSD.
Stark made the suit with no help. He doesn’t need a specific suit because he has the skill to invent whatever he may need.
At this point, Peter can’t make himself a suit like that, so if he is nothing without it, he can’t respect the power it brings. But he isn’t nothing without it, which is what Stark is trying to teach him: not to rely on power of others.
It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times!?
Do you have any tips for writing professional documentation? I want to do some for my workplace but it’s hard to know where to start, how to arrange it, etc

We call eastern coast time AEST
That’s normal and expected. What’s sad is that there are countries with governments who don’t tell companies not to be shitty.
A lot of the angst about the server requirements for Plex pass really have to stretch the truth to become a victim. It only affects you if you were using it for free, in which case 🤷, it was free, it’s hard to feel bad about it.
The only thing I’m disappointed in is the free mobile streaming comes at the same time they released the new broken app. When they get around to fixing the app I’ll be able to tell my friends they can now use the app. The server owner paying once is much better than every person paying for the app.
